You cannot underestimate the awesome power of Erin Andrews.
AWFUL ANNOUNCING passes along news of how the sideline siren sparked Spartans b-baller Drew Neitzel to show off his super skills in Tuesday’s night win over Ohio State.
After engaging Andrews in a 15-minute pre-game chat, Neitzel went out and scored 8 of Michigan State’s first 9 points. And he has a good idea what inspired his opening outburst:
“I was pretty pumped up after talking to her. She gave me that little boost that I needed, I guess.”
Neitzel’s great night was rewarded with another chat with Andrews after the game - to the chagrin of his teammates who were hoping to have their own shot at Erin: “All the other guys were kind of jealous.”
Such as Drew Naymick, who bemoaned, “If I would have made those free throws, that would have been me.”
Keep dreaming, boys. We know her ESPN co-worker Steve Lavin will.
