What shocks me most about the O'Neill hire is that USC is in the PAC10– the same PAC10 where O'Neill most recently served as Lute Olsen's heir apparent, before being unceremoniously terminated. See, Lute had to leave the team all of a sudden, and when KO took over, KO proceeded to return Lute's goodwill buy throwing the guy under the bus to anyone who would listen. How did it end? Well, it didn't take long for Lute's hand-picked successor to go from darling to doormat, and Arizona booted him ASAP. So it's unlikely he's changed his ways in the last few months. Knowing this– and all the other baggage this guy comes with– why on earth would USC want this jackass?
