After missing two court appearances Monday and previously disregarding court orders involving the custody of her two children with Dwyane Wade, Siovaughn Wade was placed into custody at Chicago’s Cook County Jail today.
The estranged wife of the Miami Heat forward will have to pay a $10,000 bond for release, per an order from Cook County Circuit Judge Marya Nega.
Earlier today, Siohvaughn Wade’s attorney did attempt to block the jailing.
Lawyer Marsha Fisher filed an emergency motion to quash the order, but Judge Nega said she saw no evidence to prevent Mrs. Wade from being forced to report to jail.
Fisher has since confirmed to the ASSOCIATED PRESS that Siohvaughn Wade has the $10,000 for the release.
Siohvaughn and Dwyane Wade are in the middle of an oft-ugly, protracted custody battle over their two young boys. A formal divorce court proceeding isn’t scheduled until September.
UPDATE (2:52p ET): Mrs. Wade has been released.
