DUX LUX: University of Oregon boosters recently spent $3.2 million to improve facilities for the football team. But the multiple millions didn’t go to improving the stadium, practice facility, weight room or equipment. All $3.2M was spent on a new locker room. The PORTLAND OREGONIAN lists the locker lavishness: · "Each bank of lockers has a port for easy connection to the Internet and the university network." · "Inside each locker are vents in the top and the bottom. When the locker doors are shut, and soaking wet equipment is hanging, air shoots through the lockers, drying the equipment.” · "120 lockers and three 60-inch flat-panel plasma TVs, costing $15,000 each. From touch screen controls, players can cue up satellite television, DVD movies, video, stereo and an X-Box game system."· "A security system is activated by a code that includes a player’s uniform number and a scan of his thumbprint." · “Lighting can be calibrated to match the conditions outdoors." Cost per locker: $27,000.
