Give Dustin Pedroia credit: he likes to have some fun with a camera on him. He’s not much of an actor (and was quite noticeably outclassed in that awesome MLB ‘09 commercial), but he’s, y’know, out there.
It naturally follows, then (no it doesn’t), that Pedroia would start filming web spots with financial information for a local bank in Boston. While he’s (probably) not going to pull a Dykstra and waste his earnings in spectacularly public fashion, he’s at least helping kids learn a little bit about money, which is hardly an ignoble cause.

Yessir, that’s a surprise two-fer. Don’t say we never did nothin’ for you.
We mentioned kids earlier because, as you might have guessed from watching the videos, these are not exactly in-depth discussions here. It’s for “Gold Star Savers” at Salem Five Bank, the “five” apparently signifying the last age at which it’s acceptable to be referred to as a “gold star” anything without your dignity being diminished.
But either way, it’s not the worst thing in the world for an athlete to spend his time doing this sort of stuff, is it? Sure, he probably wishes he was doing, oh, anything else in the world, but there’s something to be said for a little role-modeling.
