*Duped* NV High School Recruit: “I Made It All Up”

Remember our first post yesterday about the weird story of Nevada high school football recruit Kevin Hart? When we suggested (in the headline, no less) that he may have made up the story of how he was scammed?

Kevin Hart Fernley High School Made Up Recruitment Himself

(What we posted yesterday)

Turns out we were exactly right.

The RENO GAZETTE-JOURNAL reports “The Kevin Hart recruiting saga came to an abrupt end this afternoon when the Fernley offensive lineman admitted the entire process was a fraud.

Hart released a statement this afternoon: “I wanted to play D-I ball more than anything. When I realized that wasn’t going to happen, I made up what I wanted to be reality. I am sorry for disappointing and embarrassing my family, coaches, Fernley High School, the involved universities and reporters covering the story.

Now the school district “continues to conduct its internal investigation into how so many people were duped by the high school senior.

This kid actually has a bright future - as a college football recruiting expert. He’s certainly has the right disposition for the job.

Yeah there was too many “schools” involved to be a prank. Unless a lot of kids at the schools had it in for him.

The more I think about it, the more I feel sorry for the kid.

I feel sorry more for his family who is embarrassed by his behavior. Look at his coach in those pictures? Poor guy thought he had coached a D1 player, and the kid was just screwing with everybody.

I do feel bad for him, because obviously it never registered with him how his actions could impact so many people. His coach and parents deserved much better. Let’s just hope he gets his act together and grows up. I remember well the day when reality hit and I realized my athletic career was over. It was hard. Some people never get over it.
