City Atty. Got Kenyon Martin Out Of 100-MPH Tix

The ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS races over word that Kenyon Martin has a fan in local government, as a Denver prosecutor had helped the Nuggets star out of a 100-mph speeding ticket - twice.

Kenyon Martin

Russell Stone had given Martin favorable plea bargains in two cases back in 2006. That January, Kenyon was caught going 101 mph in a 30 mph zone, and repeated the trick again the following September, going 103 in a 55 zone.

Both times, Stone stepped in and bargained for lesser charges - saving Kenyon from losing his license. In the September case, Stone convinced Martin’s lawyer Jonathan Rosen to transfer his client’s case from a different courtroom to the room where Stone was serving.

When asked on Monday about the allegations of preferential treatment, Stone replied, “There’s a strict policy in my office that us underlings are not allowed to make any comment to the press.”

Stone was suspended for 3 days without pay over the favoring incidents. Meanwhile, Martin’s attorneys claim they did nothing wrong by rolling along with Russell. Daniel Recht added that their legal team “ethically, competently and aggressively represented” their client.

And if you say otherwise, they’ll sue.

An athlete getting preferential treatment? Not in America!

By the way, has OJ found the “real killers” yet? I know he has been really scouring the golf courses looking for them. You’d think eventually one would pop up in a sandtrap or on the ol’ 19th hole.
