DON’T BELIEVE THE TRUTH - BECKS TO BOLT “BACKWATER”? After being recalled to England’s national team and performing impressively against Brazil last Saturday in London’s newly-reopened Wembley Stadium, David Beckham for the first time expressed reticence over the five-year deal he signed with MLS and the L.A. Galaxy, or as the LONDON DAILY MAIL calls the minor league, “footballing’s backwater“.

There’s genuine concern that the MLS club may cause a logistical dilemma for Beckham as his role with the Lions is expected to grow with Euro 2008 approaching.

Not so genuine is the bogus report that Beckham’s wife Victoria has quit a reality show based on her life (yeah, right). Yes, filming has stopped (it lasted barely a week), but there was no guarantee that NBC and/or the Bravo cable outlet would’ve picked up the production, despite the lies spread to the press by Posh’s paid publicity machine.

Since the series was unlikely to be approved for air, the news of her husband’s renewed role with England was a convenient (albeit counterfeit) out.
