The Knicks have found a new coach, and that poor guy is Mark D’Antoni.
The deal hasn’t been announced by the team, but sources are confirming that both sides have reached an agreement.
From the NEW YORK POST:
According to a member of Mike D’Antoni’s inner circle, the Sun marquee fast-break guru verbally accepted a four-year, $24 million offer Saturday morning, beating out the Bulls.
“He feels management will give him all he needs,” the source told The Post. “He liked Donnie. It was a gut feeling.”
I don’t know if you could call “I think this guy is gonna suck less than Isaiah” a gut feeling so much as a sure thing. This guy is the real deal: a proven head coach that produces over-achieving teams that get into the playoffs.
The Knicks get a huge win in this offseason: they beat out the Bulls in acquiring D’Antoni’s services. Chicago wasn’t willing to offer the former Suns’ head coach more than $18 million.
