Two years ago I posted about a sexual abuse allegation leveled against Danica Patrick’s husband, Paul Hospenthal.

Hospenthal, a physical therapist, was accused in 2007 of having sex with a 16-year-old patient multiple times while he was 33-years-old. KTVK-TV in Phoenix reports the complaint from the woman to the Arizona State Board of Physical Therapy was resolved when …
Hospenthal was issued a public reprimand — six months probation — where he’s stays on the job and attends classes on patient boundaries.
He did not appeal.
Patrick and Hospenthal were married in November, 2005. She first met Hospenthal when (surprise!) he was giving her physical therapy for a yoga injury. She was 24, he was 40 at the time. They were married shortly thereafter.

Recently, Liz Mellott of NATIONAL SPEED SPORT NEWS followed up on Hospenthal’s sordid professional past - which actually goes beyond his reprimand for underage sex with a patient:
Under the Pennsylvania Department of State Health Licensing Boards Disciplinary Actions in October 2007, the story continues.
“Paul E. Hospenthal, license no. PT001940E of Scottsdale, Ariz., agreed to a permanent, voluntary surrender of his license because he had a license disciplined by the proper licensing authority of another state.” (09-27-07) So, now no longer on probation, he has no license.
Then, to add more soap to the opera, “The Board then discussed ordering Mr. Hospenthal to submit to a psycho-sexual evaluation. The motion carried by a unanimous roll call vote.” Wow, when the whole Pennsylvania State Board thinks you need a psycho-sexual evaluation, you would think it would be hard to get a date, much less marry an IRL star.
Mellott also reports that Hospenthal had another complaint lodged against him by a young patient in Arizona:
In the Arizona State Board of Physical Therapy records, there is another complaint that in 2000 he seduced another woman while she was his physical therapy patient and that they had a consensual sexual relationship for four years during which time she “periodically received physical therapy care from Mr. Hospenthal both in and out of his clinic.”
That complaint was dismissed, but I can only imagine Patrick’s reax to all of this.

That might explain why Patrick has kept a very low public profile on her marriage. Non-existent is more like it. She has flown solo at virtually all of her high-profile public appearances and to my knowledge has never discussed the sexual allegations made against her husband by the underage girl in Arizona - and the subsequent reprimand.

Add in this recent, sexy photo shoot of Patrick with a dude who isn’t her husband and you wonder what is going through her mind these days.

TO BE CLEAR, I’m not suggesting in any way that the photo shoot is connected to how she feels about her husband. For all we know, she knew everything before she married Hospenthal and their marriage is solid as a rock.
But I don’t think there’s anyone reading this who doesn’t think she might have felt a tinge of remorse after hearing the news about her chosen mate. Perhaps she has forgiven him and moved on and he’s cleaned up his act. Or maybe he privately denied all the allegations, and she believes him.
They’re still together, I guess is all that really matters at the moment.

The Arizona woman’s complaint was from incidents that happened several years ago. Perhaps when she saw the guy marry Patrick, she decided to go after him.
The timing of everything is a little confusing, I’ll grant you that. Details could be sharper in the original accounts.

I know Paul and he’s a nice guy. I think this all came out because he married Danica and she has money. Where there’s a will (potential for payout) there’s a way.

I think its time for me to become a physical therapist, so I can be like Paul Hospenthal (last name sounds like a prescription drug that makes young chicks get with him. JESUS his name even rhymes!! Like an old child’s moral song. Paul Hospenthal….hmmmmm Stranger Danger, I can kinda see the word association with that.

I can see a follow up story when all shyt hits the fan with this guy…….like an interview with an old friend about his relationship with Paul Hospenthal….
“yea, I know Paul Hospenthal man, he was my college roommate, great guy.Man, the chicks really dugg Paul, they all thought he was an aire to a cigarette chain cuz of his last name “Hospenthal”, I had to explain to these chicks man that Hospenthal had nothing to do with cigarettes man…….Hey man it was the early 70’s man, we were all on that Hospenthal back then, don’t judge me man, those were some crazy times man , you were there. I was just shocked man to see that he became his nickname we gave him in college, we called Paul: “Physical” the Rapist”, you thought that would scare chicks off man, having a nickname like that, but the chicks kept cuming, “you know what I mean man!!!” (coughing) who do I need to give a prostate exam to to get a 7up around here??!!

A couple things:
1. Why do people like Liz Mellott seem to care so much about Danica’s marriage being low profile or not. Would it make Liz’s life any better if she saw Danica’s husband on TV or at her appearances all the time?
2. Digging up stuff that happened probably 7-10 years ago and republishing it as if it happened last week, last month IS NOT NEWS, it;s simply lazy reporting.
Look at the dates for things, they’re all back from earlier this decade or the late 90’s and now all of sudden they start popping up over the last 4 years from 2006 on? Coincidence? Absolutely not..
3. As for Danica’s photo shoots, I don’t think you can make a connection to those and this news on her husband as she somehow is trying to get back at him because this is how she’s marketed, as a sexy female in a man’s sporting world.
