Crewman Falls Head Over Heels For Danica Patrick

A pit crewman at Friday’s Indianapolis 500 practice fell head over heels for Danica Patrick - mainly because she accidentally ran over him.

WISH-TV reports that Charles Buckman, a crewman of Dale Conye Racing, was hit by Patrick as she was making a pit stop. Buckman was reportedly looking for another Indy Car racer, and he didn’t see Danica pulling in until it was too late. (Video after the jump.)

Buckman was taken to the track hospital then to Methodist Hospital in downtown Indianapolis, where he’s being treated for a concussion and scalp & facial lacerations.

Although Buckman went unconscious after the hit, an IRL spokesman says he’s now alert & awake, and his injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening.

WTHR-TV adds that Patrick was “very upset” over the accident, and was quickly taken out of her car & away from the scene by her crew. She later spoke with reporters and made this statement:

“It’s really unfortunate with what happened. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Hopefully he’ll be able to get back to the track soon and get back to doing what he loves.”

Maybe Danica can pay Charles a hospital visit - preferably in a nurses’ uniform & offering to give a sponge bath. (Too soon? Too perverted?)

More unfortunate, Buckman wasn’t the only one to make tracks for the hospital on Friday. Rookie racer Alex Lloyd crashed into the wall during his practice run, demolishing his car & causing himself to be treated for neck pains.

Well, maybe after visiting Buckman, Danica could also stop by Alex’s bed & offer to ease his pain with a massage. (Still too soon & too perverted?)
