Cubs fans have a tradition of bringing a "throw back ball", where they'll pocket the actual homerun ball, and throw out a ball that they bring into the park for that purpose

I kind of feel sorry for Dempster. This was his game to shine. He is as close to being "Mr. Cub" than anyone else on the team. He bleeds Cubbie blue. It must be devastating for him to have to live with what he did last night.
