And in the DFW area, the kids have been playing soccer since the '70's. They just have to figure out a way to get them in the gates.

Dallas and Colorado are really the only cities that struggle at the gate. Kansas City doesn't have a very high average but that is because they play in a minor league baseball stadium while their new stadium is being built. (They sell out that stadium every game) Clearly there is a market for soccer in the USA and it isn't as bleak as the soccer haters like to think it is.

There's pockets of support in the USA, it varies city to city, but clearly it's not interwoven into the mainstream culture and certainly won't be in any of our lifetimes.

Uhh try again buddy. Seattle has sold out all their games with over 30K in the stands. They even increased their capacity to fulfill demand. The Galaxy sell out all their games at the HDC. When Philly comes into the league next season they will have a sold out stadium at every game. Same for Portland in 2011. Soccer is growing in this country whether you like it or not. Sure it wont be at the same level as the big 3 anytime soon but it certainly isn't "DOA."
