Cops Cleared in Beating of Donald Driver’s Father

It looked bad last month when Houston police were accused of beating Donald Driver’s father after a routine traffic stop. This, I suppose, is why though the media is allowed to jump to conclusions, the legal system isn’t allowed to. The three police officers have been cleared, and Marvin Driver Jr.’s claims were found to be baseless, according to an internal review.

Medical information did not point to a recent beating, and two independent witnesses did not observe any altercation, according to the report. The officers have been returned to active duty, but this does not preclude a civil suit. Still, take with a grain of salt accusations made by anyone through a spokesman named Quanell X.

The most damning evidence against the 56-year-old Driver’s claims is that the officer he accused of leading the beating never left his patrol car during the November arrest for unpaid parking tickets. But what about those injuries he suffered?

The officers then took Driver to jail, where he was reportedly unresponsive. A jail doctor then advised officers to contact paramedics and take Driver to the hospital.

The review concludes Driver’s injuries were not the result of the alleged police beating.

“Medical information obtained by investigators does not support or indicate any injuries to Mr. Driver consistent with a recent assault,” states the release.

So he was pretty banged up before he was even arrested? What kind of wild life is Marvin Driver living, and how do I come along for the ride? Was he out with Charles Barkley last week?
