PS. These young jerks being recruited to be cops should not be. The have no business doing this kind of job with just a GED or HS Diploma. They should be required to have a college degree. Better yet like my cousin who has a College Degree and a Law Degree.

There are cops that deserve respect for what they deal with every day. But the same ones deserve that respect for being great at their jobs while showing compassion and common sense. THIS JERK-OFF ROBERT POWELL should have been fired before he resigned. I hope he doesn't go and try to apply somewhere else to be a cop. If I was MOATS I would have walked by him and walked into the hospital. This guy should have his ass kicked. LOSER PIG!

C'mon, man, be serious. This is the INTERNET, everyone knows there's no room for NUANCE here.

(More seriously - it's entirely possible to have no problem with cops in general - even to like and respect them for the immense sacrifices they make to keep the rest of us safe - and yet still be able to realize that yeah, this Powell guy is a schmuck. That doesn't make someone a Cop Hatah ™ or an Evil Librul Destroying The Fabric of American Society - it just means someone has the ability to spot a schmuck.)

It takes no more than one word about a cop abusing his/her authority and, all the cop lovers/defenders come out from under their rocks like this danr character and do the spin. Not ALL cops are bad cops of course. However, as soon as someone points out a bad one, he/she is labelled a "cop hater". It is a useful spinning tool for those who seem to enjoy when a cop like this powell does these things. They seem to be angry and hate the world as is likely this powell clown does so, they support this sort of thing. There ARE those types who attempt to or do get into LE to 'get even' as they were cowards, bullied or whatever. I am NOT saying that all of them are like this so, spin away. The young man who stopped at the hospital was polite in every exchange. He was very frustrated by a cop who did NOT care about anything other than showing his gun/badhe covered authority. I say he KNEW what was actually occuring and decided that he could "punish' this black guy for being black. Even when the nurse came out, he MADE THE DECISION to now allow the human being to see his MIL, KNOWING she was dying. Yes, there was a traffic regulation broken however, what is truly real here, the cop with his little gun & badge and biig man authority or a human being with a LEGITIMATE reason for hurrying to see someone dying? There are probably cops out there who would still have these human emotions and HELP THE MAN.

Knowing and being related to cops, every1 sees this guy as a joke. His arrogance is what kills him. Hope he tries to throw that authority around at his new job as a an apartment security guard. The way he expressed his views on xanga shows he is not mentally capable to handle his role as public servant

keep in mind that the football player broke several laws on his wy to the hospital,then when he stopped people from his car got out and ran. the football player stayed behind and could not produce documents for the car. that being said, the cop could have been more understanding when a nurse came out and explained things. as for the derogatory comments made about the military on this thread, keep in mind that the military and the police are the only thing keeping us safe. without them, well i don't even want to think what society would be like.
