0-16 CSU Shocks 16-0 Utah In Conference Tourney

It’s been a sorry season for Colorado State basketball. Both the men’s and women’s teams managed to go winless in the Mountain West, each finishing 0-16 in conference play. So you figure come MWC tourney time, it would be one-and-done for both sets of rotten Rams.

Colorado State basketball 0-16

Well, you would be wrong.

The FORT COLLINS COLORADOAN reports the men’s team upset Wyoming 68-63 Wednesday night, snapping a 17-game losing streak while tasting victory for the first time in 2008. But the guys were just following the gals’ lead.

The Lady Rams accomplished an even bigger feat on Wednesday, knocking off 12th-ranked Utah 60-52. The Utes were the polar opposite of CSU, going 16-0 in the MWC and riding a 22-game winning streak into the conference tournament.

But the Rams weren’t to be denied, as they rode the momentum from their first MWC win against UNLV the night before - trading ther 20-game losing streak for a 2-game winning one. They hope to make it 3 with a semifinal win over New Mexico on Friday, then it’s just one more ‘W’ to a ticket to the Big Dance.

March Madness indeed. Now the fellas get a chance to continue their own remarkable run today against 24th-ranked BYU. Can they do the Lady Rams proud?
