Just because you have right to say something doesn’t mean you should say it. Language is the single most powerful and influential part of culture - the mere use of that word, even if it’s not meant in a specifically homophobic sense (and I don’t see how it could not be), strikes a myriad of poisonous, ignorant social chords that only serve to propagate anti-gay sentiment.

As a public figure, Mcmackin should have known better than to use that kind of language and makes me wonder if he would tolerate such equally hateful slurs tossed against him and his team? Somehow I think not.

Um, he said “faggot”, a pretty offensive slur. Right in front of reporters. Even if he did apologize, it’s a story because he said it in the first place.

Why are you busting his balls? You know he meant it as a way to say the dance was ‘girlie’, for lack of a better word. He caught himself and apologized. You’re just like everyone else in the media, Brooks, blowing sh*t up out of absolutely nothing. Disappointed.
