Apparently, the sports apparel aisle at JC Penney is a more powerful fortune teller than Nostradamus, your local astrology charts and Patricia Arquette combined. At least if you believe a Wisconsin man who told the RACINE JOURNAL TIMES that he bought a NY Jets # 4 Brett Favre jersey from the retailer six years ago.
Joe Braun said that he purchased the jersey as a Christmas gift for his wife back in 2002. According to him, neither he or his wife noticed the error, even after she opened the gift and put on the jersey. It was only after their son noticed that it was the wrong color green and had a Jets logo on the sleeve did Braun think that something was amiss. This does not speak highly of the observational skills of Braun and his wife.
First off, nice work with the Christmas present, Joe. If I tried to give my wife a football jersey as a gift, I could pretty much write off having sex ever again. Nothing says “you are the woman I love” like sports memorabilia. It’s still a step up from his Christmas gift to his wife back in 2001 of a miter saw.
And way to double check what you bought and not notice that it was the wrong color and had a giant Jets logo on the sleeve - although I’ll admit that I fall into the 99 percent of all men who would have made the same mistake while shopping. Looking at something more than 15 seconds before making a purchase is tantamount to admitting that you watch “Gossip Girl” in the realm of manly men.
The Brauns’ daughter wore the jersey to work on Friday to a mixed reception. She’s lucky she didn’t cross the paths of this family - they probably wouldn’t have waited to rip the thing off of her before they tried to set it on fire.
I wonder if JC Penney’s has any copies of the Gray’s Sports Almanac 2000-2050 for sale?
