My assumption:  Either Dwyane was caught cheating or Dwyane caught Siohvaughn cheating.  IMO, the key element is infidelity.  I think Dwyane caught his wife cheating because he initiated the divorce.  She probably got upset or she caught him with someone else afterwards and now she wants payback.  She knew that if he initiated the divorce without allegations then she wouldn't get much.  That also explains her smashing his things and taking off with the kids.  Child support and full custody is also more money.  America is a capitalistic society so having these large named celebrities pay large settlements means money for everyone against him (including the judge, lawyers, etc).
