City Of Milwaukee Pigeons Standing At The Ready

The Milwaukee Brewers announced today that a statue of Bud Selig is being cast and will be unveiled at Miller Park in August.

Bud Selig gives himself a statue at Miller Park

Whose idea was it? Tom Haudricourt of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL-SENTINEL gives us a clue.

Selig’s statue will join those of Hank Aaron and Robin Yount, which were unveiled on April 5, 2001, the first year of Miller Park’s existence. The first two statues were donated by the Allan H. (Bud) Selig Foundation.

So Jim Gray’s self-awarded star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame apparently was the inspiration for Selig’s satue.

The ceremony for the unveiling of Selig’s statue will be on Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at Miller Park.

Bud Selig is the only reason Milwaukee still has the Brewers. No Bud = No Brewers.
