Chris Benoit Phone Messages Released: So What?

It seems like the only that thing sadly survived WWE wrestler Chris Benoit’s murder-suicide rampage was the story of the aftermath. WSB-TV ATLANTA got ahold of cell phone messages left by Benoit and his friends and family, and only 10 months after the slayings!

Chris and Nancy Benoit

WSB-TV say the voice mails ” give new insight into what happened before and after the wrestling star killed his wife and young son before killing himself in their Fayette County home in June 2007.” Really?

Let’s see what Benoit had to say:

“Hi honey. Hi Dan-Dan. Sorry I missed you. I’ll try you on your cell phone. Love you. Bye”

HE’S A MADMAN! THE SIGNS WERE ALL THERE! WE FAILED HIM AS A SOCIETY!

WSB-TV said they had to wait months for a Freedom Of Information Act request to process so they could get those phone messages. And by gum, are we glad we got them.

This one’s from Benoit’s wife’s friend:

“Hi Nancy, it’s Marty in Canada. Just wanting to see if everything is OK because we have heard terrible reports on the radio. We’re just calling to confirm. So hopefully, we can talk to you soon. Bye”

Yep, this is definitely insightful information. Benoit’s wife had friends who cared about her. Absolutely riveting information. Totally glad the FOIA worked.

Even the TV station admits at the end of the story that the police case is long since closed (I think they know who did it). Maybe I’m just being jaded. Or maybe I’m waiting for the story in 2009 when a fellow wrestler releases e-mails between him and Benoit that portrayed him as somewhat of an irritable man.
