BLACKHAWKS OWNER DIES, YEARS AFTER FRANCHISE DID: “Dollar” Bill Wirtz has cashed his last check, as the Chicago Blackhawks owner died Wednesday after a recent battle with cancer:

The 77-year-old Wirtz was best know for being one of the most miserly managers in professional sports, from his penny-pinching ways of not re-signing high-priced talent, to his refusal to broadcast homes games on television.
Although he did much chariatble work during his life, none of that charity ever made its way to 1800 W. Madison, as the hockey club slowly slinked out of the Windy City sports consciousness.

Wirtz’s passing is sad, if not a little late, for as CHICAGO BULL puts it, “the Blackhawks have been dead for over a decade now.”
Considering his previous stances, we wonder if Bill’s funeral will be shown on local TV at all.
