The BBC was more specific in its lead: Chelsea have been banned from signing any new players until January 2011.

For those not familiar with the transfer window, soccer clubs can acquire other clubs' players only in January or the summer. The ban is for the next two transfer windows -- and the most recent transfer window closed this past Monday -- so Chelsea cannot sign players in 2010.
