Gabriel may be a good radio show host, and he is good as I’ve heard him, but Charlie Coles’ freckles knows more basketball than he does. He is one of the great under-the-radar coaches and is guaranteed to take down two or three highly ranked teams every year simply by outcoaching them, as he did Calipari. Kentucky’s sheer talent won out. Coles is awesome.

The guy who asked the question was Dick Gabriel, veteran reporter/talk show host in Lexington. He’s forgotten more about UK sports than this coach’ll ever know. And for the record, there was no animosity on either side…nor has there been such a reply when he’s asked that before.
