I agree with Palmer. The NFL is getting real crazy. Someone is probably going to die, unfortunitly. Its probably going to be a kick/punt returner or a reciever going across the middle. I know its a contact sport....so is rugby, no one thinks about players dying in rugby tho. Why? Its because the players are taught how to tackle right, not just run in head first. Maybe they should play football with no pads. Then we'll see how tough these d ends really are.

Back in the "good old days" quarterbacks weren't 6-5, 275-280 like Big (Ass) Ben. Its amazing what a bunch of pussies these guys are and the same goes for most of the commentators. Do you guys usually comment on Soccer sites or something?

Players these days are actively coached to tackle helmet first, which is a chickens--- thing to do. The great irony is that most serious injuries on helmet tackles happen to the tackler, not the ball carrier. Palmer is right. It's a miracle it hasn't happened yet. But whenever the league tries to crack down on dirty play the dinosaurs come crawling out the cave saying "warriors blah blah blah gladiators blah blah blah contact sport blah blah blah".

I agree with Palmer. Something needs to be done but I am not sure what it would be. It seems are getting like the Romans watching the gladitators and screaming for more blood. It has gotten out of hand. Just look at some of the more serious injuries out there.. I love football and played it for 5 years but it is getting to be a very brutal game. Palmer is right. Someone is going to get killed!

That is completely inappropriate to suggest and/or hope that Brett Favre gets killed in a game. You should be ashamed at such a comment. Now getting his legs broke in week 1 by the Bears, now that would be just fine in my book.

Personally, I don't see the problem with what Carson said. It's the truth and if someone wants to label him a sissy for saying it, then so be it. But I sure hope that sissy has a comeback year because I have him on 2 of my fantasy teams.

See, this first comment illustrates the problem. People project all this "gladiator" crap on football players. Palmer's going to get lambasted by the media, especially by blowhard talk-radio jockeys. But he's got a great point and unfortunately, the NFL will be reactive instead of proactive, and by then it will be too late.
