Brett Favre Welcome To Backup Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers have ended their silence on the subject of Brett Favre and his return to the NFL. Unfortunately for Favre, he’s not getting the answer he hoped for.

Packers Distancing Themselves From Favre

Packers GM Ted Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthy told the Associated Press that there’s no way they’re releasing Brett Favre. But if Brett really wants to come back, they have a spot for him right behind Aaron Rodgers.

GM Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy told The Associated Press on Saturday that the star quarterback was welcome to rejoin the team but would have to be a backup.Thompson and McCarthy did not want to discuss a possible trade. Thompson said he had not received any inquiries as of Saturday morning.

It’s understandable that the Packers don’t want to release Favre and have him sign with the Minnesota Vikings or any team in the NFC North. There has to be a better way to go about this than holding Brett Favre hostage.

Brett asked the Green Bay Packers for his unconditional release, and now the team has countered with a backup position. Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy better know what they’re doing because jerking around one of the most beloved players in the history of the NFL makes them look like a couple of a-holes.
