Manish Mehta of the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reported today that Braylon Edwards apparently didn’t think his arrest for DWI Tuesday morning, “would project the Jets in a negative light.”
Today Edwards said of his arrest:
“I don’t understand the black eye that this would put on the organization. Because this isn’t a representation of what this organization is about. .. I don’t see how this could be a black eye for them. More so be a black eye for myself if anything. I’m human. I’m not the first person to make a mistake. It was sad for me (being) in that situation. I don’t know if I would describe it (as) embarrassed.”
Jets Coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday in reaction to Edwards’ arrest, “It’s kind of an embarrassing moment for the organization. We are a disciplined football team. I think our football team has learned our lessons. I think Braylon is a good man.”
Jets beat reporter Mehta also noted that Edwards, “appeared flippant during his session with the media and admitted that he wouldn’t contest it if the team decided to deactivate him for the game.”
Edwards will not start for the Jets on Sunday against Miami but will suit up for the game. Of Edwards being benched but not deactivated for the game, Ryan said, “That’s a bigger punishment than you think. That’s it for now.”
Mehta noted via Twitter that Jets defensive back Darrelle Revis said of Edwards not starting, but still having a chance to play on Sunday, “It really doesn’t make sense.“
Edward said he hasn’t signed up for the 24-hour, free car service for players set up last week by the Jets:
“I have my own car service that I use all the time. I never drive to the city. I don’t know my way around the city. I don’t like driving to the city. Yesterday was probably the third time I’ve ever driven to the city of New York.”
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said that upon being pulled over Tuesday morning, Edwards admitted he had been drinking alcohol. Edwards was also seen in photos the night before his arrest in the presence of multiple alcoholic drinks at a charity event.
Edwards reportedly said to the attending officer, “We were coming from a party. How about if I just leave the car and take a cab and go home?”
Mehta also reported via Twitter that Edwards girlfriend Ashley Weatherspoon said of her boyfriend’s DWI arrest, “At end of day, everyone will see that Braylon didn’t do anything wrong.”

being from Cleveland , i am glad he is your problem now.in case you don’t know, he could end up in jail here for parole violations,they will welcome him here in the county jail.you would think after his buddy stallworth killed a guy after the two were drinking all night he would use some sense,well, after all the drops he had here in his career with the browns,lets hope he can hold on to the soap when he is in jail

A mistake is ordering a entree that didn’t taste like what you thought. A mistake is choosing the wrong color to paint your house.

A mistake that kills people on a regular basis. It’s people like you that allow drunken driving to continue and be dismissed as a “mistake”. Hopefully, you’re mother doesn’t get plowed in a crosswalk…
