You can’t exactly say that readers of the CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER were sad that former Browns receiver Braylon Edwards was charged a little while ago with misdemeanor assault. Commenter Stefrusconi, a few minutes after word came down: “ALL CHARGES SHOULD BE DROPPED JUST LIKE THE FOOTBALL.” How rude. But then Browns fans and Mr. Edwards are not on the best of terms.
The charges stem from the infamous LeBron Incident on Oct. 4 at the View Ultralounge & Nightclub in Cleveland, when Edwards allegedly punched entertainment promoter Edward Givens. Somewhere Tom Cable is laughing for the first time in two months.
Givens, a party promoter and friend of Cavs superstar LeBron James, said Edwards is jealous of James’ success and that led to the attack.
Following the incident, James called the incident “childish.”
Edwards faces a sentence of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, if convicted.
The “Talib” mentioned in the tweet above, by the way, refers to Tampa Bay cornerback Aqib Talib, who was charged with misdemeanor battery on Thursday by the Florida state attorney. Talib allegedly punched a cab driver while riding in the back of his cab in August.
Looks like Leon is going to need some additional herbal tea time.
