Boston Red Sox To Sell Bleacher Seats For $550

RED SOX FLINGING OUT FURNITURE TO FAT-WALLET FANS: For $550, The Boston Red Sox invite fans to take a seat:

Red Sox bleachers

The BOSTON HERALD sits down to tell us that the team will be tearing out the bleacher seats - 6,507 in all - and putting in new comfy chairs for the outfield onlookers. The seats will be removed at the end of the season - which will likely be after the first week of October.

About 4,400 of these seats will be up for sale to the public, going for $550 a pair. If you have the moxie and money, this is your chance to sit and scream and scarf down a Fenway Frank in the comfort of your own home or office.

Red Sox Red Seat

But one bleacher bum-holder will remain - The Red Chair. This historic upholstery marks the spot where Ted Williams’ 502-foot blast landed in 1946, the longest measured home run in the venerable ballpark.

So the special seat will stay frozen in place. Just like Ted.
