Boston Bars Opening Very Early For Opening Day

Red Sox fans willing to get up very early Tuesday morning to watch their team open the 2008 MLB season can now do it in a setting they feel most comfortable in - the local bar.

The BOSTON GLOBE reports that numerous Fenway Park-adjacent watering holes will have their doors open by 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday. In fact, they’re open right now! Hurry! Get your drunk Boston ass over there!

But before you bolt, there is a catch:

Mayor’s spokeswoman Dot Joyce said the bars, which had received special permission to open early, were not allowed to sell alcohol until the game is over.

Well, hey, at least you guys can enjoy your bar bowl peanuts with a delicious Dunkin’ Donuts coffee - something we desperately lack on the West Coast. But if you really can’t stand to give your liver a break, just head north across the state line.

WMUR in Manchester, NH, reports a couple of local bars will also be open early for Sox fans to catch the goings on in Japan - and they will be serving alcohol!

Breakfast and Bloody Marys will be served at Billy’s, while pancakes and beers will be served at the Wild Rover.

If that isn’t tempting enough, the Wild Rover has also been advertising a special concoction for the early-bird festivities - a beer Bloody Mary.

Two great tastes that go great together! (Or maybe not.) So, get your Boston behinds up to New Hampshire! But please take a designated driver.
