[ UPDATE: YAHOO! SPORTS is speculating that the federal case postponement will likely ensure that the trial “will not stand trial before October when American baseball holds its World Series championship.” Sorry MLB owners, cross another one off of ‘reasons why we can’t sign him’ excuses. ]
The Barry Bonds saga continues. The perjury case against Major League’s home run king has been pushed back to June, and prosecutors have told a federal judge that they plan to obtain new indictment against Bonds.
Paula Canny, a lawyer for Bonds’ former trainer Greg Anderson, said the reasons for postponement are fairly simple.
“This is Barry Bonds’ testimony, and I think he lied. All the counts that have multiple wrongdoings alleged…so instead of four counts of perjury, they’ll have maybe 12 counts.”
Taking time to gather more evidence? Sounds good. One thing we know: Bonds is still unemployed, even after receiving attention in St. Louis, Tampa Bay, New York, and Seattle. The other thing we know is that he isn’t going to jail. Delaying his Federal hearing should all but guarantee the start of the 2008 Major League season doesn’t include Barry Bonds - which is good news to most around baseball circles.

Don’t you think you misrepresented Canny’s comments just a tad? Reread where you clipped the comments from the NY Daily News article and it’s clear that she is speculating on what Novitsky might say, if called, in order to resurrect the charges.
The way you present it leaves the impression that Anderson’s lawyer feels that Barry’s testimony is a lie. We’re all fairly clear on Novitsky’s feelings about Bonds.
Maybe you, like the prosecutors, should re-do your original work.
