Oh, those wacky St. Paul Saints have done it again! The minor league team that brought the world the Michael Vick dog chew toy has come up with a new novel giveaway - and it’s certain to be flush with success.
The latest lunacy from the minds at Midway Stadium is this bathroom bobblefoot - much like the bobblehead, only it’s the other end of the body that bounces. The collectible features a pair of feet sticking out below a bathroom stall, with one of the feet spring-loaded so it taps.
The Saints say the giveaway is in honor of National Tap Dancing Day. But Bob von Sternberg of the MINNEAPOLIS STAR-TRIBUNE knows that the keepsake is a subtle shot at a certain sullied senator:
The team also takes pains to note: “It doesn’t matter if your tapping style is done with a ‘wide stance’ or is used as some sort of code.”
That’s a none-too-subtle reference to Idaho Republican Sen. Larry Craig, who pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct after an undercover police officer arrested him for allegedly soliciting sex in a bathroom stall at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The undercover officer who arrested Craig said the senator’s foot-tapping, bumping feet and swiping his hand under the bathroom stall amounted to well-known code used in soliciting sex.
The first 2500 fans to show up at Sunday’s Saints game will get the gift that keeps on going. It’s the perfect complement to those that already have the pooping cow jelly bean dispenser.
Surprisingly, the Saints aren’t the first sports folks to take a laughable lunge at Larry. Last fall, a group of Boise State fans pressed into service a couple of shirts that read, “Senator Craig is a Vandal” - referencing the fact that Craig was a graduate of the Broncos’ heated rival, the Idaho Vandals.
Wonder if any extra bobblefoots will be on sale at the Twin Cities airport.
