Foul play obviously has been suspected, and the HINDUSTAN TIMES reports that Woolmer apparently expired after being adminstered snake venom and subsequently strangled in his hotel room (sounds like the Super 8 in Jamaica might need to upgrade to card key entry).

Snake venom? Never a dull day in the world of Cricket. That said, we’ve got our own international intrigue here stateside when it comes to the demise of high-profile coaches. Take for instance former Detroit Lions coach Wayne Fontes, who sued the pants off of the Ford family after his firing.

Yep, the whole nation was captivated when it came out that Fontes tried to go to trial for injuries he received while coaching the team. Needless to say, Matt Millen now has a full-timer assigned to soap-bar collection in the team’s gang showers.

At least it appears that the Fontes situation had a happy ending, as the sports blog The Ghosts Of Wayne Fontes reports the former coach is back on his professional feet, as he was recently spotted in uniform in the electronics section of a Montgomery Ward.
