WHY WE DON’T THINK ND FANS ARE COMPLETE A–HOLES: We come from a Notre Dame family (dad, brother, cousin all schooled there), so we know all about how wonderful Fighting Irish fans can be.

And then there’s recent Notre Dame alumnus Bob Griffin, who takes humility to the next level. Griffin, a former editor of ND’s student paper writes in to the esteemed publication (which can be picked up atop the cigarette machine of your favorite South Bend Bowling Alley) this week to ask Notre Dame students not to rush the field after the 1-5 Irish defeat #4-ranked Boston College: “Don’t let the excitement spill over to embarrassment this weekend if the Irish knock off Boston College. Don’t storm the field.”

We suppose his heart is in the right place, and this only confirms it: “There’s a reason we refer to Boston College as Fredo, and bull-rushing the field against our weaker, inferior little brother would be embarrassing. We would be showing them a sense of respect that they don’t deserve.”

This just backs up what we’ve always known, that just like the Catholic priests here in Los Angeles, Notre Dame fans comport themselves with the highest level of dignity and integrity. Go Irish!
