The biggest moment in the Pac-10 yesterday wasn’t UCLA’s illegal escape against Cal (shots over the backboard shouldn’t count; that was obvious to everyone but the officials), nor was it USC’s big win over Stanford. No, the top item from the Pac-10 was Oregon State’s date with history.
Is it a Beaver or a donut? It’s both. OSU finished 0-18 in Pac-10 play with a 77-64 loss to Arizona State. Yes, the Beavers are the first team in the history of the conference that nobody gets to see on weeknights because they play so damn late to go winless. How does it feel? Let’s turn to the AP:
“‘We never expected to come into this season and go 0-18,’ said Oregon State guard Calvin Haynes. ‘Every time we lose it hurts more and more.’”
Come on now, is that really true? I would think capitulation gets easier as time passes. Just ask France. But hey, there’s always the Pac-10 Tournament, starting Wednesday. Who smells an upset?
