B-BALL PROSPECT RECRUITING COLLEGES, NOT VICE VERSA: A basketball recruit figures if the big boys won’t come to him, he’ll go to them:
ZAGSBLOG dribbles in the tale of Lance Stephenson Jr., a prized prospect who’s hitting the road to find the right sneaker palace for him - oh, and get a good education, too, we guess.
Father Lance Sr. explained he wasn’t going to wait for the colleges to come to them: “I basically turned this around and instead of letting schools recruit us, we are going to recruit schools.”
So far, the Lances have visited Indiana and Seton Hall, and are planning trips to USC (better bring your boxing gloves), Kansas, North Carolina and Georgetown.
Lance Sr. has said he wants his son to be in an evironment different from his Brookyln hometown, “a nice place that’s excited about basketball but at the same time that’s cozy and secluded, which is going to be tough to find.”

But Lance Jr. won’t be totally cut-off from civilization, as a film crew is planning on following the baller around for the next couple of years, a la “Hoop Dreams“. The hope is to put together a documentary or reality series around the hoopster, and then sell it to ESPN or MTV or whomever.
Lance Sr. says his decisions concerning his son came from watching the travails of the families of former prospects Stephon Marbury and Sebastian Telfair: “We all come from the same environment. The way I handle Lance has actually come from watching the Marburys.”

Does this mean little Lance will soon have his own line of fairly-priced footwear, and have sex with NBA interns in cars?
