Law & Order reruns will suffice (for me, anyway) if nothing else is on. So to say that I’m open minded to new shows would be an understatement. However, as for The Closer and Saving Grace - well, TNT beat their ads into my skull too much to even give them a chance.
Unless … what’s that you say, talking box? A gun-slinging version of Barry Switzer might show up as Holly Hunter’s gun-slinging sidekick to save the show from certain cancellation?!?
Go on …
Sadly, that’s the best case/not happening scenario. I know, I know. I’m a real jerk. Instead, Switzer will play himself in an upcoming episode of the “hit” TNT “show”. Which is bound to work out splendidly, just like every other sports star that has tried to act.
As AWFUL ANNOUNCING informs us:
Famed football coach Barry Switzer guest stars as himself in the SAVING GRACE episode “Do You Love Him?” airing Monday, August 11, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT). Holly Hunter stars in the series as Grace Hanadarko, an intense Oklahoma City police detective with a fiery spirit and audacious lifestyle. In this episode, the door to Grace’s Porsche gets knocked off when a drunk driver slams into it. The impact lets loose thousands of dollars in cash that had been hidden by a previous owner. Switzer is among the owners questioned. When he visits the station, the OCPD police detectives hail him as a hero, except for Butch, the former University of Texas football player. Grace allows Switzer to take a glory ride in the Porsche for old time’s sake.
I can’t really help but imagine that Switzer — not currently employed — was sitting around watching Saving Grace and said, “Daaaannng. I think I’d like to be on that there show.”
And then his agent called her agent and well, since both of their phone lines were somehow not busy, and both their clients make Shaun Alexander look happily employed, it was pretty easy to put a deal together.
