When your team’s been out of postseason contention since about 3-4 months back, it’s hard to find interesting stuff to talk about. And since Dusty Baker doesn’t have to worry about fielding questions regarding the Reds’ chances in the playoffs, the Cincy manager decided to devote some of his time quashing some randy rumors.
(Dusty’s definitely not all smiles at the moment)
Word around town is that Dusty’s daughter, 28-year-old Natosha, is dating and/or engaged to Reds outfielder Corey Patterson. Well, Baker wants to set the record straight.
From the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER:
“She hasn’t even been to Cincinnati,” Baker said. “This is so far out of line. It’s hurtful to my wife and daughter. How can people stoop that low? I don’t know who started it. But I’ve been hearing from fans, players, announcers.”
Dusty further adds, “There’s been a lot of gossip about me. But this is the worst.” Really? Worse than anything he had to hear while coaching the Cubs? That’s a bit hard to believe.
It seems that Baker may be blowing his top a little too high. It’s not like his daughter’s being accused of sleeping around or doing drugs. (And for legality’s sake, neither are we.)
And maybe Natosha should take a trip to Cincy - if for nothing else than to chow down on some scrumptious Skyline Chili.
