While he was out campaigning for California gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown and Senatorial candidate Barbara Boxer in Los Angeles on Monday, second term L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa somehow thought it a good idea to encourage locals to support the San Francisco Giants in the World Series against the Texas Rangers.
I just wrote that.
While at the Democrat’s rally in downtown L.A., Villaraigosa noted to a crowd of around 100 supporters that the Giants were in the World Series. The mayor of Los Angeles then said, “We’re all for San Francisco and California, right?“
News reporter Shannon Farren of KFI-AM in Los Angeles recorded the audio of Villaraigosa and can be heard providing commentary on the playback with KFI afternoon hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou of the John & Ken Show:
Thankfully, at least for Villaraigosa’s sake, the small political gathering was made of up of diehard political supporters of the mayor and staunch members of the California Democratic party.
Had there been a few thousand bonafide local residents, Villaraigosa would’ve needed a catcher’s mitt. And mask. And chest protector. And bat. And souped up bullpen car.
