Despite a 3-0 record going into tonight’s tilt with LSU, the natives are a bit restless at Auburn after the team scored three points last week against Mississippi State (and still won). So much so that the Dean thought it necessary to send an email to the student body informing them that booing is “for squares,” or “totally lame,” or…what is it the kids are saying these days?

The letter sent by Dr. Johnny Green not only discouraged negative vibes, but also warned against acting like idiots in the background of ESPN’s College Gameday, which is airing live from outside Jordan-Hare Stadium as we speak. Luckily, the letter’s full contents have been made available via these fine internets we inhabit.
Here are some of the choicest excerpts from the memo:
First, please join me by agreeing to demonstrate your support for, and not criticism of, our football team. That means no booing! Remember, the team isn’t trying to lose the gameāthe players work hard all spring and during fall camp to be ready to compete in the S.E.C.
It strikes me that if Dr. Green were a betting man, his money wouldn’t be on the home team this week. I mean, he’s basically acknowledging that he expects LSU to take Auburn to the woodshed. Isn’t that worse than booing?
ESPN Game Day will be in town this weekend and we need everyone to come out and show them how much we support our team. Let’s show Chris Fowler, Kirk Hebstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard true fan support and loyalty for Auburn!
I hope Corso really tests them when he shows up wearing this:

And wait, Desmond Howard’s on Gameday now? He’s the Pat Smear to the original trio?
Continuing:
help me show the world what I get to experience everyday: that Auburn men and women are special, dedicated, loyal, fun loving, bleed orange and blue, are compassionate, and demonstrate good will to others, even our competitors.
And we can write a convoluted run-on sentence with the best of ‘em. War Eagle!
The nation will be watching the next two weeks (ESPN, CBS next week), and lets remember to have a great time, enjoy the weekend’s activities, watch our language and behavior, and display class, taste, and character in everything we do.
See above. Somebody get this man an editor.
I’m sure all of the Auburn students will be on their best behavior. And please, make sure this guy doesn’t get singled out for his negativity. He was saying “boo-urns.”
