Did you know the Dallas Cowboys haven’t won a playoff game since 1996? That’s pretty spectacular for haters of America’s Team, which includes, oh, most of America. But according to one ESPN analyst, don’t blame the players, or coaches, or even Jerry Jones. Blame the trainer.
Marcellus Wiley believes he’s identified the culprit for Dallas’ late-season collapses: strength and conditioning coach Joe Juraszek, who maybe-not-so-coincidentally joined the club in 1997. Wiley, a former defensive end who played one season for the Cowboys, thinks the team is never in shape to handle the grind of a 16-game season. And Cowboy fans, eager to find a scapegoat, quickly rounded up the posse. (Wiley’s words, and the ensuing fan lynch mob, after the jump.)
Says Wiley,
The strength and conditioning coach is in charge of filling up your tank, getting you in shape and also keeping you at a great level of physical conditioning so that you can make it through the tough part of the season which is December and January. It’s not about coaching. It’s not about T.O. It’s not about Romo. It’s about the atrophy of these muscles and the conditioning of this team.
The commenters on the DALLAS MORNING NEWS quickly chimed in:
-Just another thought… Joe Juraszek was the S&C coach at OU during the John Blake years when they were LOSERS TOO!Hum…
-During the Dynasty years, the Strength Coach was a guy named mike woicik. He won 3 super bowl rings. Now he’s with a certain team from the Northeast where he’s won 3 more rings: The Patriots. I’ve been saying for years how the Cowboys fade in December because they’re worn out and weak.
-Actually it seems to make a bit of sense when you consider the injuries of Barber, Romo, Jones, etc. Wasn’t Felix supposed to be back in three weeks? Wasn’t Barber a 2 week injury at max?
-Dat Dude has a point. I’ve been saying that for a while now. Does anyone remember that guy called Terry Glen? He was suppose to be back in 1 week of Training Camp which turned into 2 more weeks which turned into ready by Game 1, which turned into Definitely by the Playoffs which turned into NEVER. Hell these guys are hurting their their toes and fingers and coming down with Pink Eye and HIV during their rehab.
-Drew Barrymore is highly over-rated as an actress
On second thought, maybe they’ve already consigned this season to the failure bin.

BA! HAAHAha!Including the Drew Barrymore comment was brilliant. Not so good for my keyboard, now that I snarfed all over it, but brilliant nonetheless.
