NO, CANADA - SORENSTAM AVOIDING CANUCK OPEN AGAIN: Annika Sorenstam is not afraid to play with the big boys, yet she seems afraid to play in Canada.

The Swedish swinging sensation will once again skip out on the CN Canadian Women’s Open, making the fourth time she’ll cancel on the chance to challenge on the Canuck course.

Dan Barnes of CANWEST NEWS SERVICE is disappointed and a little offended by Annika’s absence. He points out she has no problems playing in a tournament in her home country, especially one named after her - the Scandinavian TPC Hosted by Annika.

And Barnes doesn’t buy any excuses of scheduling conflicts, since a numbers of players in her tourney plan on competing in Edmonton next week.

We’re not sure what her avoidance of the Great White North is all aboot. Maybe it’s bad memories from last time - which was way back in 2003, when she pulled out of the Open after just six holes with a plus-1 score.

Maybe it’s Canadian weather concerns. But it’s mid-August, so it likely won’t snow for another two weeks. Or maybe she’s still upset about Canada beating Sweden in the IIHF World Championships this year.

Come on, Annie - let it go.
