HUGGING HAROLD REYNOLDS interrupts our regularly scheduled post with this breaking news: Philadelphia TV anchor Alycia Lane has been fired:
A statement by KYW-TV general manager Michael Colleran says that the station doesn’t believe Lane will be found guilty of any NYC shenanigans, but they don’t need her kind of actions on their action news team:
“We have concluded that it would be impossible for Alycia to continue to report the news as she, herself, has become the focus of so many news stories.”
You’d think that would make it easier for KYW’s news department to locate juicy stories. All they have to do is stop by the anchor’s chair.
The official pink-slip statement concluded with the perfect form-letter brush-off, “We wish her the best in all her future endeavors.”
It’s sad to see Alycia go. But on the positive side, she now has plenty of time to try on new outfits. Hope she still has Rich’s Motorola number.
