Altanta Braves Announcer Upset He Wont Be Covering Playoffs for TBS

HOLY COW! CARAY LEFT OFF OF TBS POST-SEASON LINEUP: Skip Caray has been skipped over for the post-season, and he’s none too happy about it:

The ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION steps up to the mike and tells us that the Braves’ broadcaster has been left off of TBS’s playoff coverage. And that makes him sad:

It hurt my feelings, and I’m mad at myself for thinking there was any loyalty left in this business. I should have known better.”

Instead of the sounds of Skip, TBS viewers will be treated to the tones of Dick Stockton and Ted Robinson, along with Red Sox caller Don Orsillo and Caray’s son Chip.

The first two choices especially irk the odd man out:

I feel like I can do a better job than a tennis announcer (Robinson) or a football-basketball announcer (Stockton)… they don’t do baseball anymore and I’m there every day.”

Well, not quite every day. Caray has only called 10 games this season for Turner’s TV station, while doing most of his play-by-play on the radio.

Caray is also fearful that the October omission will hurt his admission into the Hall of Fame: “When your employer says you’re not good enough to do the playoffs, I don’t think that helps your chances.”

Maybe Marc Ecko can help Caray get to Cooperstown - if Skip doesn’t mind a big asterisk tattoo on his forehead.
