All Louie Wants To Do Is Help End Inhalant Abuse

Far be it from me to make fun of “America’s newest silent epidemic,” but just how am I supposed to get behind the Bowie Baysox’s upcoming Inhalant Abuse Night when its spokesman, Louie here, has the biggest schnoz in the history of mascots?

You of course remember the Baysox (AA Eastern League) from this glorious promotion; how could you not? Louie will be on hand July 8 when the team takes on the Harrisburg Senators at Prince George’s Stadium during their Striking Out Inhalant Abuse promotion. I had no idea this was such a problem, but there you go.

The Bowie Baysox are partnering with the New Britain Rock Cats, Trenton Thunder and Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) on the “Striking Out Inhalant Abuse” program. The program will bring students out to each team’s ballpark for Inhalant Abuse Night. The Baysox will host Inhalant Abuse Night Wednesday, July 8, as the Baysox take on the Harrisburg Senators at 7:05 p.m.

You have to love Louie’s pose in the photo above with Miss Maryland, as he seems to be saying “Hey, I never touched her, officer!”

But as we see in the photo below, minor league baseball mascot inhalant abuse is no laughing matter. That’s Splash, the mascot of the Stockton Ports, signing autographs and telling kids “Don’t end up like me. Don’t huff.”
