To set the record straight, MN law was changed in 2005 to allow the DMV to revoke a driver's license of anyone driving in excess of 100 MPH on any road. Therefore, the speed citation for 109 actually carries a higher penalty than a reckless driving citation. Also, for the record, EPD officers are not given goals and would rarely if ever stop a vehicle for 3-5 over. Get your info straight Nate. As a former officer, shame on you for spreading untrue rumors. AP was clocked at 109, no more no less. How do I know? EPD officer here.

Oh, and one more thing. Edina police are notorious for making their officers reach "goals" (not quotas, because that's illegal) in tickets. So they'll pull over cars for 3-5 over, which is pretty unheard of around the metro.

As a former officer in a not-so affluent Minnesota suburb, I can tell you 30 over in MN is reckless driving, and it's supposed to equal automatic revocation. The car should have been towed because he displayed a "willful and wanton disregard to public safety". (If I'm remembering my statute correctly)

Where is the outrage? You go on and on about the irresponsible behavior from Tiger Woods yet he never put other people's lives' at risk with his actions like Peterson just did.

Are you going to cover this story just as intently with just as much outrage?

Bob,

Great point. Bet you're dead on. Like I said, he was going FASTER than 109.

i'll bet in MN if you go twice the speed limit that's automatically considered reckless driving, hence AP only being cited for 109.
