Don’t remember seeing anything like this before. Quarterback Will Briscoe of Central High School in Louisiana converts a two-point conversion against Zachary High by completing a behind-the-back pass:
Am I late to the party on this? I don’t remember seeing anything like it previously. Hard to believe though that it would the first behind-the-back football pass of its kind.
Oh, and the Touch made the score 58-0. Even made Spurrier blush. Video after the jump.

I hope the coach makes this kid run gassers until he pukes. If the coach knew about it, he should be suspended for a game.
Stupid plays like this, in a game that is already out of hand, is how kids get hurt via retaliation, and then the opposing coach gets burned at the stake for not having control of his players.
Classless, totally classless.

I’ve never seen it before but I would have been more impressed if it was a tight spiral. I don’t know if that’s physically possible cause I haven’t tried.
Just seemed like he threw it up there and since there was no defenders around, it was an easy throw.

Johnnie got it right on the money. Dumb.
11:53 am on October 28th, 2009
Not that hard to do. More like something you would see in a flag football game. But why are they going for 2 up 56-0? beyond classless.
12:01 pm on October 28th, 2009
did you see the black ref shaking his head like WTF
1:32 pm on October 28th, 2009
what was the point? the guy was wide open, it would of been easier to just have thrown a normal, tight spiral pass to the guy.
if i as on the opposing teams defense, the next series, that quarterback would be getting a rude awakening, clean or not.
1:44 pm on October 28th, 2009
Why is this impressive? It was 58-0. You’re just showing up the other team. What’s impressive about that?!
If the team was running one way and he did it because it was necessary in a misdirection type play and if he did it when the game was on the line, I’d buy it.
This is just crap football and if I were coaching the other team, I’d tell my team to go for the knees.

Exactly what amateur sports is supposed to be NOT about. Mocking an opponent getting crushed is way past sad…
2:30 pm on October 28th, 2009
i’ve seen highlights of Sonny Jurgenson throwing these passes easily 20-30 yds in Redskin practices
2:35 pm on October 28th, 2009
I’m so sick of people complaining about running up the score. If you’re getting beat and you want the beating to stop. YOU should be the one who quits. Walk off the field and forfeit the game. Don’t ask the team that’s actually good at football to stop playing.
2:40 pm on October 28th, 2009
there is a difference in being good at football and being a bad sport
2:52 pm on October 28th, 2009
i’ve seen highlights of Sonny Jurgenson throwing these passes easily 20-30 yds in Redskin practices…probably saw this on the NFL network sometime. He was very accurate with the pass. So it’s been around but I’ve never seen it used.
It might become the new “Happy Gilmore” gimmick
2:54 pm on October 28th, 2009
stupid. i’ve seen people try passes like that all the time. in practice and pick up games on weekends. not in a game of course. so not impressed. just some dumb high school kids thinking they are special doing this garbage.
the ball just floated up there and easily could have been picked off but the other team wasnt even trying that hard.
reminds me of a high school basketball game in philly years ago. kid scored 100 points. but when the video came out, nobody played defense. kids just stood there and watched him drive to the basket unchallenged.
same here. plus many of us tried this pass when we were kids.

Let the losers who spent their entire lives being losers cry foul over the human indignity of getting your ass handed to you in competition. Maybe Zachary High can use this as motivation to come prepared next year or don’t get off the bus.
4:06 pm on October 28th, 2009
I know this team. the only guy with less class than the QB is the head coach. last year they tried a retarded back-flip play and got a 15 yard unsportsmanlike.
4:08 pm on October 28th, 2009
and their baseball coach sucks at fantasy football
4:19 pm on October 28th, 2009
sports is nothing but for the entertainment value. That was entertaining. The rest of you shut up.
5:09 pm on October 28th, 2009
sports is nothing but entertainment for the fans maybe, but for the high school kids it should be fun and also teach some values and life-lessons.

For what it’s worth, the score was 13-0 when the 2 pt play was run, and the head coach on the opposing team was the offensive coordinator the previous year at the school that threw the behind the back pass. You can debate away, but I will say that the head coach on the opposing team has his own bag of tricks.
Also, in response to a previous post, the baseball coach at that school is dominating his fantasy football league.
10:07 am on October 29th, 2009
if it was 13-0 then i have no problem with it…
12:07 pm on October 29th, 2009
This 2 pt conversion made the score 15-0 in the first quarter, the final was 58-0. and the play was in the playbook because the opposing head coach used to run it in his flag football days.

It’s a shame that so many sports sites do not research any facts when reporting a story. Here are some answers for the author and various poster comments:
#1 - This pass occurred on the second drive of the game when the score was 13-0.
#2 - Zachary has traditionally been a powerhouse team, so at that point Central assumed it would NEED that extra point cushion.
#3 - Zachary’s coach used to coach at Central so CHS figured it would need to pull out all the stops to win. Who knew Zachary would completely unravel?
#4 - CHS is ranked #4 in the state. They made it to the state semi-finals last year, losing a close game to the eventual state champion.
#5 - Central is a public high school with all local kids, not a fancy private school that can “recruit” the best players. It’s a small school located in a fairly rural, lower income area of South Louisiana. These are not snotty rich kids with attitudes.
#6 - Shedrick could catch a piece of confetti thrown at him - he’s awesome & being recruited nationwide.
#7 - Will Briscoe & his twin brother Wes (who has played with a broken arm all season) are genuinely nice guys - not cocky showboats.
#8 - Whoever said Central’s coach was classless has never once in their life met Coach Sid. He is literally the nicest person you will ever meet — the kinda guy who would give you the shirt off his back in 20 degree weather.
When our house burned down a year ago, he gave us the team van (since our cars burned up too) DURING FOOTBALL SEASON for as long as we needed it. He also volunteered the entire football team to help us move, carry out all the burnt furniture, and clean up the burn site. All of the guys on the team wanted to help us any way they could.
And we’re not bigwigs or people with money, we don’t have a kid on the team, we don’t even have a cheerleader. They just heard what happened to someone in their community and reached out on their own. We’ll never forget how nice they were to us.
So, please stop all the hatin and assumptions. It was a crazy play that they had practiced repeatedly & it just happened to work during the 1st quarter of the game. No showboating, no Spurrier-like running up the score, just trying to protect an early lead, that’s all. These guys deserve every accolade they get.

I don’t care when it occured in the game - 1st play, last play, whenever. It was CLASSLESS and POOR SPORTSMANSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
10:57 pm on October 30th, 2009
Man it was a cool play ran by high school kids. No one was trying to embarrass anyone. It was simply like any other play like the statue of liberty or a fake field goal. Just admit the kid has talent!

Everyone is down on this team for doing this, of course because everyone is uninformed the score was only 13 to 0 when this took place they were not up by 56 points at that time, now the final score ended up being 58 - 0 . I coach sports and see nothing wrong with this. Now if it would of been a big blowout when this took place that would be a different story.

MG is a ratard you prolly dont play sports its highschool football kids live to be able to do that it was not classless the other team was garbage that day they quit on the field and got it handed to them their bad sucks to be them
