I played hockey as a kid too, back when girl players were pretty rare birds. But I still love the game today & I know first hand that with a lot of determination, you can beat a stroke too, 'cuz I had one. Don't listen to anything negative, don't let anyone tell you that you *can't* do something, doctors included, & you'll go far. I'm pulling for you.
