The Cowtown Gazette stumbles again into the spotlight: The SACRAMENTO BEE recently apologized for a recent cover story that portrayed Lakers guard Kobe Bryant as a drunk.

The paper’s editor said the piece was intended as a humorous feature, but Kobe’s counsel noted after the story was published that Bryant doesn’t drink. Wouldn’t let facts get in the way of good story.

The Bee issued a backhanded apology in print but couldn’t help but note "Lakers coach Phil Jackson called it ‘lighthearted … It was a play on the situation from last year.‘"

This is the same Phil Jax that said two years ago that Kobe intentionally sandbagged his high school games to keep himself amused.
